About
About US Permit Search
US Permit Search publishes commercial and multifamily building permits from 38 U.S. cities: 56,932 projects and $99.7B of declared construction in the last 90 days. Every permit comes from a city’s official open data, read daily and cleaned into one format.
A building permit is often the first public sign of a construction job: it names the address, the scope, the value and usually the contractor. Cities publish them, but each in its own format, portal and vocabulary. We put them in one place so that the people who sell to job sites (electricians, mechanical and plumbing subcontractors, roofers, fire-protection firms, suppliers, equipment rental, dumpsters, fencing, portable toilets and cleaning crews) can find new work the day it’s permitted.
How we make money
Subscriptions. City pages, contractor profiles and project pages are free; paid plans add the newest projects, contacts, search, alerts, CSV exports and an API. We don’t sell advertising, and we don’t take payment to rank or feature a contractor.
Our data principles
- Only official public records: city open-data APIs and published files, never scraped pages.
- Show the source and the date on every page, and say where a city’s data is incomplete.
- No personal contact details on public pages.
- Correct errors quickly when a city or a reader points them out.
We are an independent company and are not affiliated with any city government. Read the full methodology or the list of data sources.
